Rise and Walk Ministries was founded by Danny Peebles. Danny's resume is filled with impressive credentials both academically and athletically. He was voted a Presidential Scholar and was a member of the National Honor Society. Additionally, Danny's athletic talents resulted in Danny becoming an All-Conference, All-State, and All-American in track and football while at NB Broughton High School. His strong work ethic and desire to excel afforded him the opportunity to receive a full scholarship to play football for North Carolina State University (NCSU). He was also a member of the NCSU track team whereby they won four ACC championships . After graduating with degrees in Accounting and Business Management in 1988, Danny entered the NFL draft and was selected in the second round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played professionally for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cleveland Browns. While playing wide receiver for the Browns, he suffered a fractured vertebra, which temporarily paralyzed him from the neck down and as a result, ended his career. When his athletic career ended, he became a successful business man. Danny said, "My total focus, after I got to college, was on becoming a success by the world's standards. This was the beginning of my downward spiral. It was during my climb to the top that I knew something was missing from my life. I kept thinking I could fill the void with more touchdowns, getting more A's in the classroom, or closing more deals in the business world. The more successful I got by worldly standards, the more lost I became inside. I quickly figured out that "success" and money gave me comfort but no real peace. I was lost." With all he had accomplished on the football field, the track, and in the business world, he still felt empty. He tried desperately to fill that void in many unproductive ways. After many years of anger, despair, bad decisions, and disappointments, Danny realized that he was lost spiritually. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and at that point, he learned to do as Jesus commanded many believers He healed to do... to RISE and WALK! |
